First-week order of operations (so you don’t redo trips)
A suggested sequence for your first days in Beijing after a work move.
Your first week is mostly logistics. Doing steps in the wrong order means repeat subway rides and closed counters.
Suggested order
- Sleep somewhere that can register you (hotel) if your apartment isn’t ready.
- Message HR with passport bio page + entry stamp photos.
- Confirm appointments (medical, company onboarding, bank) before you roam the city.
- SIM + maps + payment bridge so you can move independently.
- Only then deep-clean apartment hunting if you still need housing.
Why this order
Residence registration and HR document collection unblock almost everything else. Sightseeing can wait a day.
